The official kick-off to the holidays is coming up soon! Join us for Rockport’s “TROPICAL CHRISTMAS” You won’t get into the Christmas spirit till you see this spectacular display of lights in the heart of Rockport, TX

 The annual event will take place in the Rockport Cultural and Arts District, which will include the Rockport harbor, Downtown Rockport Merchants, Rockport Beach Park, and Little Bay.

 Come out, bring the family and enjoy lights, The Annual event will start at the Rockport Festival Grounds, which is adjacent to the Rockport Harbor on Saturday, December 4th at 10 a.m.

You can expect lots of fun, activities for the children, some great live entertainment, Specialty Vendors, and outstanding food trucks. 

Rockport Festival Grounds

If you haven’t been to Rockport recently, or you have never seen the Christmas Lights Display at Little Bay, you don’t want to miss this spectacular event! You won’t want to miss it…
We hear that for this year’s special guest you can expect a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus flying all the way from the North Pole for this special event.

The festival activities at the fairgrounds will wind down around 5 pm in preparation for the lighting of the Christmas tree and an illuminated night parade. They’ll be lots of neat floats with lights and decorations..

And, for the grand finale, a spectacular, fireworks display over the harbor!

The event is free and open to the public

So here is a run down of everything that will be happening during this annual event!

For The Kids

Ornament Making Workshop | 10:00 – Noon (Under the Big Tent on the Festival Grounds)

Play Area | Noon – 5:00 pm (Rock Wall, Inflatables, Snow Slide and More)

Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus | 2:00-4:00 pm

Illuminated Night Parade | 6:00 pm

The lighting of the Christmas Tree | 7:00 pm

Fireworks (Immediately Following the Lighting of the Community Tree)

Live Entertainment

Cast in Bronze, a crowd favorite, Frank DellaPenna retired and shows resumed with Charlie St. Cyr-Paul, his dear friend and protégé. Charlie brings new energy and creativity to the show while performing many classic favorites from the Cast in the Bronze repertoire.  Charlie will have numerous performances throughout the day.

The Christmas Tree Huggers Band –  This group of award-winning musicians serves up holiday favorites Rock & Roll style

Grandmas’ Boyfriends Barbershop Quartet – This four-part barbershop harmony group sings old-time favorite barbershop songs. 

The Pacific Islanders are based in Corpus Christi, Texas on the Gulf Coast. The Pacific Islanders organized in 1981 under the direction of Sue Pualani Cotham.

Tree Decorating Contest

Families, friends, or community groups are invited to participate in the annual tree contest. The City will provide the trees, which will be located on the southeast side of the festival grounds. Winners will be announced at the Festival Grounds Stage at 12:30 pm with awards presented for “Best in Show,” “Honorable Mention,” “Most Creative,” and “Best Christmas Theme.” A sign will be placed in front of each tree to identify the decorators.

Lighting of the Christmas Tree

The traditional lighting of the Community Christmas Tree takes place at 6:45 p.m. in Compass Rose Park overlooking Little Bay. Prior to the illumination of the tree, winners of the annual coloring contest are recognized by the Mayor. This year’s tree will have double the light power with twice as many bulbs and LEDs.

Illuminated Night Parade

At 6 pm, as the sun goes down, the Rockport Beach Park plays host to the ever-popular, illuminated night parade. Access for parade viewers begins at 4 pm and there is no charge. The City, community organizations, and neighboring towns and villages all participate with their own floats and entertainment. Following the parade, the Community Christmas Tree is lit … and then the fireworks.

Fireworks over Little bay

The fireworks display over Little Bay will begin following the lighting of the Christmas Tree (approximately 7 p.m.).

Not sure what the weather will be like So, dress warm and bring your blankets and chairs or claim a spot on the beach.

The event is free and open to the public

Adjacent businesses in the downtown area will offer special promotions throughout the day.

At 4 pm, the Rockport Beach Park will begin to offer free access for the viewing of the parade and fireworks so you can get one of the best spots available for viewing the show.

This should be a memorable family event that everyone will enjoy. Plan on coming out and having a great time.
