The Wildlife


In addition to the seafood and beaches, Rockport Fulton is also home to an amazing array of wildlife. Aransas County is home to both Goose Island State Park as well as the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. These beautiful nature preserves are perfect for bird watching or hiking. You might even see a Whooping Crane or two.


The whooping crane was on the edge of extinction by 1941, with less than 25 individuals in existence. However, thanks to dedicated conservation efforts and reintroduction programs, this beautiful ivory-white bird is slowly making a comeback! Today their population size has increased substantially - over 800 birds now exist and make their winter home here in our area.
